USCIS announced it will automatically extend parole, and employment authorization if applicable, for certain residents of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). This specific extension of parole as authorized by law will provide relief while USCIS establishes procedures for obtaining the new CNMI Resident status, which was created by the Northern Mariana Islands Long-Term Legal Residents Relief Act (PDF) (Public Law 116-24), signed by President Trump on June 25, 2019.

We have recently updated SAVE CaseCheck, our free online service for benefit or licensing applicants to track the status of their SAVE cases. SAVE CaseCheck allows benefit applicants to continue to use their verification case number or use numeric identifiers from select immigration documents – such as their I-94 or passport number – in combination with their date of birth.

DHS will automatically extend the validity period of Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) (Form I-766) related to the American Competitiveness in the 21st Century Act.
These EADs, which appear expired, will have one of the following category codes: A03, A05, A07, A08, A10, C08, C09, C10, C16, C20, C22, C24, C31, and A12 or C19. Individuals with such EADs should also have a Form I-797, Notice of Action, demonstrating they have applied for an immigration benefit in the same eligibility category as the expired EAD. Benefit-granting agencies will determine whether they need to see Form I-797.
Additionally, DHS automatically extends the EAD validity periods of individuals with Temporary Protected Status (TPS), if new EADs cannot be issued before the expiration of the prior cards. Such individuals will have EADs with the category code A12 or C19. DHS’ extensions of TPS and EAD validity periods are announced in the Federal Register and in SAVE alerts.
